Cruising Lake Tahoe

This could be you

We recently returned from a long weekend in Lake Tahoe, CA. Crisp and in the 30s at night, warming up to 70 during the day. The lake was the calmest I'd ever seen. In 3 days we went sailing, kayaking, and stand up paddle boarding. I was in heaven. Oh yes, I did fall off of my paddleboard once when a tiny wake came through from a nearby speedboat. That 53 degree water was very refreshing! I think I'm generally a little off balance now that my belly is a lot bigger.

Isn't it amazing that there's something about nature that rights your mind and calms every cell in your body? I just have to remember it's always there for us.

SUP!

'Sup my buds? SUP also stands for Stand up Paddleboard and by golly if that wasn't one of the best days of my life. I am not even kidding, that's what I kept thinking later that day. I guess it's just one of the most fun things I've ever done, and to do it with the one you love is sublime. The lake water was so cold that when I fell off trying to gain my balance early on, it took the breath out of me a little. But later you get braver, and that's when you decide to do a back flip off your board. So a little water gets up your nose, you'll live! You're posting a happy picture of you with your bathing suit on which you normally wouldn't do...then you remember a wise German woman named Manuela who told you back in the Dominican Republic when you didn't want to run into the ocean in front of your boss...that life is just too short.

p.s. If you're going to Tahoe, Jerry and Sergio at West Shore Sports in Homewood will hook you up. Thanks guys.

p.s.s. look Danimal, no leashes (wink)!

Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe, through the lens of my Holga. It was just the vacation I had hoped for. Nature and the fresh scent of pine; clear, cold blue water; relaxation; dreams...Paddle boarding photos to come...Thank you for the sweet comments. I'm looking forward to catching up with all of you.

Surf Fridays!

Hellcat and The Gent

Hello and Happy Surf Fridays! Well, today is the one-year wedding anniversary for the Mister and I - and we're having a hard time believing it's already been one year. I won't say anything too mushy about that, but I will tell you that I learned that while Mr. Watson is terrific about helping to make dinner, he really doesn't like making salads. And that's OK with me, because he is so handsome. I love you Jay.

Today we are heading to the beautiful Lake Tahoe, the north shore to be exact. I am bringing a waterproof camera so I can get some shots from paddleboards and kayaks. I am nearly beside myself with excitement and must finish packing, so I'll leave something brief today if you don't mind...Something from a book about a very amazing person - Tom Blake.

- Surfrider & Swimmer -

The knowledge you get in schools and colleges is second-hand.
The wisdom and know-how you get from the sea and waves,
and water is virgen,
new and flitting.
By all means, get some of this kind of education.

A Tahoe Christmas

It was one of the best ones ever. Good time with family. Only thing missing was Jay. Bobby really learned how to ski, thanks to Tim and Patrick. Time to pack for Baltimore. Love to everyone.
